Best Career And Education Web Sites A Quick Guide To Online Job Search eBook

                                                           About This Book

Our educational and job choices affect our lives profoundly, because we
all seek a career path that supports us both personally and financially.
Although some of us come out of school fixed on a particular career and
others shift gears several times over a working lifetime, we all look for the
same sort of satisfaction from our work.

Expert Resumes For Career Changers 2013

This book, the seventh in the Expert Resumes series, has been one of the most
challenging to write because it covers such a large and diverse audience. There are,
however, several common denominators facing every individual who is interested
in making a career change, either within their profession or to another industry. In
summary, the fact that you are seeking to change careers will dictate almost everything
that you write in your resume, how you write it, and where it is positioned.
Your goal is to paint a picture of the “new” you and not simply reiterate what you
have done in the past, expecting a prospective employer to figure out that you can
do the “new” thing just as well. It simply does not work that way!
If you fall into the career-changer category, the critical questions you must ask
yourself about your resume and your job search are the following:
• How are you going to paint a picture of the “new” you? What are you
going to highlight about your past experience that ties directly to your current
objectives? What accomplishments, skills, and qualifications are you going to
“sell” in your resume to support your “new” career objective?

How To Prepare Your Curriculum Vitae

The curriculum vitae, commonly referred to as a CV, Vita,
or Vitae, is a detailed biographical description of one’s
educational and work background. It differs from a
résumé, a one-page description of one’s work experience
and educational background not only in length but also in
detail.

Fearless Interviewing How to Win the Job by Communicating with Confidence

                                    Why Are Interviews So Scary?

Have you ever felt jittery before an interview? Nervous or even
terrified? Have you ever wished you had answered a question
differently or negotiated your salary more skillfully? Do you
panic when you imagine the possibility of “failure”? Do you just
want to make sure you get it right the first time?

Careers For Computer Buffs And Other Technological Types 2nd Edition eBook

No industry changes faster than the computer industry, with its rapid technological innovations. The
Internet is ushering in a new age in communications. We sincerely appreciate the work Rachel Kelsey
has done in creating a new chapter on careers associated with the Internet. And we are grateful for the
revisions Maria Olson made to the chapters on systems analysts, computer operators, information
systems management, and using computers on the job. Their contributions to this book are substantial.

Career Press 10 Insider Secrets to a winning Job Search 2013

                                                          Author’s Note

Welcome to 10 Insider Secrets to a Winning Job Search! Since coming
out with my first book, 10 Insider Secrets To Job Hunting Success, I
have had the privilege of coaching clients, speaking in front of numerous
groups, and appearing live on both radio and television (including
CNN and FOX), and have been featured in countless newspapers
throughout the country, including the national edition of CareerBuilder.
As a result, I had the opportunity to talk to and gain feedback from
thousands of people just like you. Even though my first book was often
ranked the #1 “Most Popular” job-hunting book on sites such as
Amazon.com and BN.com (Barnes & Noble), being a perfectionist, I
wanted to add new and exciting topics and perspectives to make this
book the best job-hunting resource ever created!

Career Press-Your First Interview 4th Ed eBook

Introduction

Unemployment is at a record high…or record low.
Jobs are plentiful…or scarcer than lilacs in December.
We’re at war…or peace.
And you’ve got a job interview, your first job interview, which
is happening whichever of the above scenarios occur. To be truthful,
they aren’t as important as you probably believe. Whether the
economy is coasting down Easy Street or preparing to nosedive
off the Wall Street pier has little to do with how you land your first
interview, prepare for it, conduct yourself during it, and whether
you emerge successfully from it…with your first job in hand.
So don’t worry if the papers are full of doom and gloom,
trumpeting the worst job market for college grads since the
reign of George III. And don’t get too cocky when the business
magazines tell you “It’s a Seller’s Market!” and visions of sixfigure
starting salaries start dancing in your head. Whatever
circumstances you face, it’s still your first interview, and you
are probably scared stiff.
